The Delhi High Court has announced plans to issue a court order shielding podcaster and entrepreneur Raj Shamani from unauthorized use of his image, voice, and likeness. Shamani had filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms, Google, X Corp, Telegram, and YouTube, seeking protection from AI-generated content and impersonations. According to reports, Shamani's image and voice have been used to circulate fake endorsements and deepfakes online, while unauthorized chatbots and Telegram channels have been impersonating him to solicit funds and promote products. Shamani's podcast, 'Figuring Out', has gained popularity, and the court has acknowledged that YouTube channels are using his clips and scripts without permission. The court has clarified that it will not pass a blanket order, and the plaintiff's counsel will need to raise specific issues in subsequent hearings. This development aligns with recent cases involving Bollywood celebrities, who have also sought protection of their personality and publicity rights in the Delhi High Court.
