Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) president Farooq Abdullah has expressed hope that an incident like Operation Sindoor does not occur again, highlighting the devastating consequences it had on the people and borders of the region. His remarks came after a tragic blast at the Nowgam police station near Srinagar, which claimed the lives of at least 9 people, including police officers, on Friday night. The blast occurred while officers were sampling explosive material seized from a terror module busted in Haryana's Faridabad earlier this month. Abdullah attributed the mishap to a 'mistake' by local authorities, stating that they should have consulted experts before handling the explosive material. "We should have talked to those who understand it better, instead of trying to handle it ourselves," Abdullah said, emphasizing the need for proper expertise in dealing with such sensitive materials. He also called for improved relations between India and Pakistan, quoting former Prime Minister Vajpayee's words, 'friends can be changed, but neighbours cannot.' The Nowgam blast has left a trail of destruction, with 32 people injured, including 27 policemen, two revenue officers, and three civilians. The incident has raised questions about the handling of explosive materials and the need for caution in such situations. Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Nalin Prabhat has confirmed that the blast was an accidental explosion that occurred during the sampling process of the explosive material. He assured that an investigation into the incident is underway and any speculation into the cause of the blast is unnecessary.
