A disturbing incident unfolded in Mumbai's Khar area when a 24-year-old French woman working at the French consulate was allegedly molested by a 25-year-old scooterist on Saturday. The perpetrator, identified as Sunil Vishni Waghela, rode up to the victim, touched her inappropriately, and sped away. The victim promptly reported the incident at the Khar police station, leading to the registration of a case under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023, for outraging a woman's modesty. Determined to bring the perpetrator to justice, the police swiftly analyzed CCTV footage from the area and pieced together Waghela's movements. Within a day, the police team tracked Waghela's scooter to Dharavi and identified him as the accused. His motorcycle was seized as evidence, and he was apprehended on Monday. The police are set to present Waghela before a magistrate without delay, with the case's key evidence, including the motorcycle, expected to be presented in court.
