A widespread outage at Cloudflare, a leading content delivery network (CDN) provider, has left thousands of users unable to access numerous websites globally. The disruption, which began on Tuesday, affected major platforms such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Perplexity, and music streaming service Spotify. Cloudflare acknowledged the issue in a statement, assuring that they are working to mitigate the problem and restore services as soon as possible. The company's dashboard and API were also impacted, causing 500 errors for multiple customers. Websites that rely on Cloudflare's infrastructure services, including X (formerly Twitter), League of Legends, Canva, Gemini, Grindr, and LetterboxD, experienced outages and error messages. According to DownDetector, over 11,000 reports were logged, with complaints peaking at 5:09 pm. Cloudflare's status page, which is usually a reliable source of information during outages, appeared to be malfunctioning, with visitors encountering internal server errors and being asked to try again later. The company's workers continue to investigate the cause of the issue, with efforts to resolve the problem ongoing. As of the latest update, Cloudflare stated that services are recovering, but users may still experience higher-than-normal error rates.
