In a major breakthrough, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested Gurpreet Singh, a key figure wanted by Punjab police for his alleged role in smuggling arms and grenades for Pakistan-backed terrorist networks. Singh, alias Gopi Billa, was arrested from Halol town in Panchmahal district after a tip-off from Punjab police. According to ATS officials, Singh was part of a larger conspiracy involving operatives in Punjab and Malaysia, who were recruited by handlers of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to carry out grenade attacks in densely populated areas. The Punjab police had earlier arrested two other suspects, who revealed during interrogation that Singh was involved in smuggling two grenades and two pistols as part of the terror plot. During questioning, Singh admitted to his involvement in the conspiracy, which aimed to spread terror across the country. The Gujarat ATS will hand Singh over to Punjab police, who will further investigate his role in the case. This arrest marks a significant achievement in the fight against terrorism, highlighting the effective collaboration between law enforcement agencies across states.
