In a significant breakthrough, Gujarat's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested three individuals linked to an alleged terror plot by the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP). The suspects, Dr. Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem Khan, and Azad Suleman Sheikh, were taken into custody after a raid on Saiyed's residence in Hyderabad revealed a ricin-making setup. Ricin, a highly toxic protein extracted from castor bean waste, is considered fatal if ingested, inhaled, or injected. The three suspects allegedly planned coordinated attacks using firearms and ricin after conducting reconnaissance in Lucknow, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. According to investigators, they received instructions through Telegram from Abu Khadija, a handler believed to be based in Afghanistan and linked to ISKP. Saiyed, a 35-year-old MBBS graduate from China, was detained on November 8 after police intercepted a car and recovered two pistols, live cartridges, and castor oil. Further investigation led to the recovery of a cache of weapons from a deserted site near Kalol. ATS officers said that Saiyed was in contact with Pakistani nationals and had begun producing ricin. Information from Saiyed's mobile phone led the ATS to Suhail and Sheikh in Banaskantha, where they were found with a bag containing pistols and cartridges. The suspects claimed that their handler sent arms using drones flown across the Pakistan border. Police have filed a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Arms Act. Saiyed has been remanded to ATS custody until November 17, and the investigation is ongoing to identify others linked to the module.
