In a bid to boost security ahead of New Year and Republic Day celebrations, Gurugram police have directed housing societies, house owners, and paying guest (PG) accommodations to submit details of residents from Jammu and Kashmir and foreign nationals staying with them. The drive, launched on November 12, is part of a security verification exercise aimed at preventing potential misuse of rented premises. The move comes in the wake of a car blast near Delhi's Red Fort, which killed at least 10 people and triggered heightened security alerts across the national capital region (NCR). Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vishnu Prasad confirmed that the drive is a routine check, intended to ensure the safety of all residents, particularly in the lead-up to national celebrations. "We are inquiring about who has come from where and for how long they have been staying here," Prasad explained. "This includes people from Jammu and Kashmir as well as foreigners. It is purely for security purposes.
