Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has urged the Centre to reopen the Shipki La trade route, a key passage along the India-China border. The move aims to facilitate trade and the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage. Sukhu stated that the existing road from Rampur Bushahr to Pooh would make infrastructure development easier for the pilgrimage. During the closing ceremony of the International Lavi Fair in Shimla district, Sukhu highlighted the significance of the fair in promoting cultural exchange and trade between India and Tibet. He also emphasized the importance of preserving folk traditions and cultural heritage. The Chief Minister announced that the Rampur school would adopt the CBSE curriculum from the next academic session. In a related issue, Sukhu expressed gratitude for the Centre's support in rehabilitating families who lost their land due to forest land disasters. He stated that the government is willing to provide one bigha of land to each landless family if the Centre grants permission. Sukhu also acknowledged the need for changes in the Forest Act, which is governed by the central government. The International Lavi Fair, dating back to the 17th century, continues to thrive while maintaining its original spirit. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh welcomed Sukhu to the fair, emphasizing the importance of connecting the younger generation with the event. The fair serves as a medium for trade, cultural exchange, and the preservation of folk traditions.
