IAF Transport Plane Crashes in Assam, Pilot Feared Dead

An Indian Air Force transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Rowriah Air Force Station in Assam’s Jorhat on Saturday, with the Air Force saying the pilot is feared dead.

The IAF said the aircraft involved in the accident was an AN-32 transport plane used for carrying supplies and that it crashed while attempting to land at the airbase.

Rescue teams rushed to the crash site soon after the accident, and the cause of the crash is yet to be established, with Air Force authorities saying they are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.

A court of inquiry is being constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident, and information regarding other crew members on board the aircraft was not immediately available.
