India's Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has emphasized the importance of learning from ongoing conflicts, citing the Ukraine war as a 'living lab' for future battles. The Army is closely monitoring the developments in Ukraine, drawing parallels with the situation along India's borders, particularly the May military confrontation with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Dwivedi highlighted the modern warfare techniques employed during Sindoor, including precision strikes, network-centric operations, and digitized intelligence. The operation, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, involved fighter jets, missiles, armed drones, and an intense artillery duel. The Army Chief noted that open-source analysis and predictive analysis were instrumental in helping the Indian military during Sindoor. He expressed gratitude towards the volunteers and diaspora community for their support, which empowered the Army's response. Dwivedi also referred to the increasing number of ongoing conflicts, involving over 100 nations, and the declining era of long peace. He emphasized the need for the Indian military to be prepared for future battles, leveraging lessons from the Ukraine war and Operation Sindoor. The Delhi Defence Dialogue, organized by the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, brings together policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and academia to discuss the effective harnessing of new-age technologies for enhancing India's defence capabilities.
