India Sends High-Stakes Delegation to Saudi After Devastating Bus Crash Near Madinah

A high-level Indian delegation, led by Governor of Andhra Pradesh Justice S Abdul Nazeer, will travel to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to oversee relief efforts following a tragic bus accident near the holy city of Madinah. The crash, which occurred early Monday, claimed the lives of numerous Indian pilgrims, mostly from Telangana, and left over 40 injured. The bus, carrying pilgrims from Mecca to Madinah, collided with an oil tanker around 1:30 am (IST). The Indian mission in Jeddah has been working closely with local authorities to assess the situation and expedite the identification of mortal remains. The Indian government has expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery for the injured. To provide fullest assistance, the delegation will work in coordination with Saudi authorities, including the Ministry of Haj and Umrah. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah are facilitating the travel of the deceased's families to Saudi Arabia. The government of India remains committed to supporting its nationals affected by this tragedy and is working to ensure swift and effective assistance.
