In a stern warning to Pakistan, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi likened the four-day military confrontation in May under Operation Sindoor to a trailer, saying the main feature was yet to come. The operation was India's direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. Dwivedi made the remarks at a curtain-raiser to the Chanakya Defence Dialogue, scheduled for November 27-28, emphasizing that India is fully prepared for any future scenario. He warned that if Pakistan attempts any mischief, India will respond with an overwhelming force. Operation Sindoor marked a significant escalation in tensions between the two nations, involving fighter jets, missiles, armed drones, and a fierce artillery duel. Dwivedi said that even if India receives an unclaimed terror attack, it knows who to hold responsible and will respond accordingly. The army chief stressed that India wants to maintain peace but will not hesitate to take action against those who encourage terrorism. He also highlighted the growth of India's military power, which he believes is a deterrent against potential threats. Dwivedi's comments come weeks after he warned Pakistan that if it wants to remain on the world map, it must stop sponsoring cross-border terrorism. He emphasized that India will not show the same restraint as it did during Operation Sindoor and will take a stronger stance against Pakistan if necessary. The 'new normal' created by Operation Sindoor has sent a strong warning to Pakistan, with the Indian government reiterating its stance that 'blood and water cannot flow together, and talks and terror cannot go on together.' Dwivedi also emphasized the importance of staying prepared for longer wars, given the interconnected nature of modern warfare.
