In a significant move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a property belonging to Mian Abdul Qayoom, the former president of the Kashmir Bar Association. The action comes in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in 2009. Qayoom, who is already in jail on murder charges, is accused of using his residential property for terrorist activities. The police claim to have collected evidence that suggests Qayoom concealed incriminating material at the property. As a result, the Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, issued an attachment order under the UAPA, seizing the 02-storeyed residential house and its land. This development brings the total number of properties attached in connection with this case to one, as per the police order. The case is ongoing, and further investigation is expected to reveal more details.
