A shocking revelation has emerged in the investigation into the Red Fort blast, with a 31-year-old postgraduate doctor from Jammu and Kashmir being identified as a key figure in the terror module. Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, a specialist in internal medicine, was arrested on November 6 from his hospital in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Rather's professional life seemed picture-perfect: a high-paying job at V-Bros Hospital and later Famous Medicare, where he treated up to 50 patients daily and earned approximately ₹5 lakh a month. However, investigators claim he was secretly linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), the group behind the 2019 Pulwama attack. According to police records, Rather took sudden leave in September and got married on October 4, before returning to Saharanpur. Just three weeks later, pro-JeM posters appeared in Srinagar, glorifying terrorists and calling for jihad. CCTV footage and mobile data linked the act to Rather. During interrogation, he allegedly revealed a network spanning Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir, identifying other operatives, including Dr Shaheen Shahid and her brother Dr Parvez Ansari. A day after his arrest, police recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from his locker, prompting charges under the Arms Act. Further investigation led police to a raid in Faridabad, where they found a godown rented by Rather, containing 350-360 kg of ammonium nitrate, two AK-47s, and other explosive materials. The police allege Rather used the site to store explosives and coordinate logistics, with another doctor, Muzammil, admitting to handling the cache on his orders. Financial scrutiny revealed ₹15-20 lakh transferred from Rather's bank account to his brother's account, raising suspicions of hawala-based terror funding. His hospital has since terminated his services, and another senior doctor has been suspended. The Red Fort blast has left several families shattered, and the revelation of a doctor's involvement in the terror module has left many stunned. The investigation continues, with the police working to uncover the extent of Rather's involvement and the network he allegedly operated within.
