In a shocking case of deception and exploitation, a woman from Kanpur has been arrested for allegedly honey-trapping government officials and extorting money from them after marrying them. Divyanshi, a 30-year-old woman, was arrested on Tuesday after her husband, Aditya Kumar Lovach, a Sub-Inspector, filed a complaint accusing her of harassment, cheating, and extortion. According to police, Divyanshi's modus operandi involved forming relationships with government officials, marrying some of them, and then filing false rape or harassment cases to extort money. The investigation revealed that she had married four men, including two bank managers and two policemen, and exploited over a dozen others. A probe into her bank accounts showed transactions of over ₹8 crore to more than 10 different accounts, some of which were linked to serving police officers in the Meerut range, hinting at a deeper network. The police suspect that some personnel may have helped her or pressured victims into settlements. The case came to light when Lovach, who married Divyanshi in February this year, became suspicious of her activities. He claimed that she repeatedly deleted UPI apps from her phone and frequently demanded money while he was on duty. Lovach alleged that he attempted suicide twice due to pressure and threats from Divyanshi and her associates. Earlier, Divyanshi had created a ruckus at the Police Commissionerate, accusing her husband of harassment, infidelity, and misappropriating ₹14.5 lakh. However, digital evidence and past records revealed a pattern of deceit, the police said. The police are now tracking the money trail and examining the role of officers who may have supported or benefited from the racket. 'The evidence indicates an organised network. More arrests are expected as financial and digital data is verified,' said Deputy Commissioner of Police Shravan Kumar Singh. The case has sparked outrage, and the police are working to unravel the web of deceit and corruption involved in the honey-trap scandal.
