Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka Just Got a Game-Changing Train Link

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Ernakulam–KSR Bengaluru Vande Bharat, India's first semi-high-speed train connecting Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. This historic train marks a significant milestone for Southern Railway, offering a premium service between the three states. The eight-coach train will cover major cities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, and Salem, before reaching Krishnarajapuram and KSR Bengaluru. Passengers can enjoy a luxurious onboard experience with features like GPS-based infotainment, bio-vacuum toilets, and Wi-Fi. The train will operate six days a week, except Wednesdays, with a journey time of 8 hours and 40 minutes. The chair car seats will cost ₹1,095, while executive class seats are priced at ₹2,289. This new link is expected to boost business and tourism, supporting travel for various purposes such as education, pilgrimage, and healthcare. The Ernakulam–KSR Bengaluru Vande Bharat is a significant addition to the existing Vande Bharat services in Kerala, with over 164 trains operating across the country. Regular operations of this new service begin on November 9, 2025, with departures from Bengaluru at 5:10 am and arrivals in Ernakulam at 1:50 pm.
