Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is set to land in New Delhi on Wednesday after being deported from the United States. Anmol, one of India's most-wanted organised crime fugitives, had been on the run since fleeing India on a forged passport in 2024. According to people familiar with the matter, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) informed the family of Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister who was shot dead in Bandra on October 12, 2024, that Anmol had been removed from American soil. This development comes after a lengthy deportation process that began when Anmol was detained in the US last year. Anmol faces at least 18 criminal cases in India, including the conspiracy to murder Baba Siddique and the firing outside actor Salman Khan's residence in Bandra. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to his arrest, and he is counted among India's 'most wanted'. Baba Siddique's son Zeeshan, a former lawmaker, expressed relief at Anmol's deportation and urged the Mumbai Police to arrest and question him to uncover the motive behind his father's killing. Anmol is also wanted for his alleged role in the May 2022 killing of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moosewala and the April 2024 attack on Salman Khan's residence. The NIA believes Anmol functioned as Lawrence Bishnoi's principal overseas handler, directing extortion rackets and coordinating assignments through encrypted channels. His return to India is expected to provide crucial details about the Bishnoi syndicate's global operations and aid ongoing terror, murder, and extortion probes.
