Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has expressed his party's eagerness to join the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar. Paswan, who is also a Union minister, believes that Nitish Kumar will return as the Chief Minister of the state. The NDA secured a landslide victory in the Bihar assembly elections, winning 202 out of 243 seats. The LJP(RV), which contested 28 seats as part of the alliance, won 19 constituencies, marking a significant breakthrough for the party. When asked about the chief ministerial face, Paswan said that the NDA will follow the constitutional procedure and allow the elected legislators to decide on their leader. He also expressed his personal belief that Nitish Kumar will once again become the Chief Minister. Paswan accused the opposition parties of creating a false narrative about tensions between him and Nitish Kumar. He stated that his party's representatives had already met the JD(U) chief minister to congratulate him on the victory and discuss future coordination. The LJP(RV) leader thanked the NDA leadership for assigning his party 29 seats, despite the party having no sitting MLA in the outgoing assembly. He credited the NDA's unity and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their victory. Paswan also expressed his party's commitment to working above caste, creed, and religion, and pledged to promote inclusive growth and development in the state. In a significant development, the LJP(RV) MLAs unanimously chose state party president Raju Tiwari as their leader, who won the Govindganj seat in East Champaran with a margin of 32,683 votes.
