BSP chief Mayawati expressed confidence that her party would have secured a larger number of seats in the recent Bihar assembly elections if the polls had been free from irregularities. In a statement on X, Mayawati congratulated BSP members on securing a crucial win in the Ramgarh assembly seat. She claimed that the party's workers thwarted a conspiracy to rig the polls, despite facing opposition from the administration and other parties. According to Mayawati, despite the BSP's strong performance in several constituencies, the party was unable to secure more seats due to the lack of a level playing field. She attributed the party's lone win in Ramgarh, where candidate Satish Kumar Singh Yadav secured 72,689 votes, to the determination of BSP workers. The BSP's allegations come amidst controversy over the Bihar election results, which saw the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) retain power. The NDA's constituents, the BJP and Janata Dal (United), recorded an impressive strike rate in the 101 seats they contested each. However, the opposition Mahagathbandhan, comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and other parties, managed to win only 34 seats. The opposition has alleged that the election results reflect widespread irregularities, with Rahul Gandhi promising a thorough review of the outcome. Mayawati's statement highlights the ongoing debate over the fairness of the Bihar elections and the need for a free and fair electoral process.
