Prime Minister Narendra Modi credited the country's youth for taking the "purification" of voter lists seriously, citing the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) landslide victory in the Bihar assembly elections as evidence. The PM stated that the massive win demonstrated the youth's support for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls initiated by the Election Commission. During his victory address at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Modi praised the Election Commission for conducting a smooth and transparent election process, despite facing criticism from some quarters. He also took a swipe at the Congress party, accusing it of making baseless allegations of "vote chori" and lacking a positive outlook. Modi emphasized the importance of voter list purification, stating that every voter plays a crucial role in maintaining the sanctity of democracy. He urged all political parties to support the SIR initiative, which aims to update the electoral rolls and ensure the integrity of the voting process. The NDA's victory in Bihar, where the Congress was reduced to a single-digit score, has been hailed as a significant win for the ruling coalition. With the RJD managing to secure a few more seats, the NDA is set to cross the 200-mark in the 243-seat assembly.
