Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will temporarily shut down for six hours on November 20 to facilitate annual post-monsoon maintenance. This scheduled closure aims to ensure the airport's safety, reliability, and compliance with global aviation standards. During the closure, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, both of the airport's runways (09/27 and 14/32) will be non-operational. The airport operator, Mumbai International Airport (MIAL), has issued a notice to airlines and stakeholders to adjust their flight schedules and manpower planning. The maintenance work will include detailed inspections, surface repairs, and technical assessments of runway lighting, markings, and drainage systems. This proactive approach enables seamless coordination across operations and minimizes passenger inconvenience. As part of the airport's efforts to maintain efficiency and safety, the Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to begin commercial operations on December 25, 2025. The new airport will initially operate for 12 hours, handling 23 scheduled daily departures and up to 10 flight movements per hour.
