Air India's flight AI129, scheduled to depart from Mumbai at 6:30 am on Saturday, was delayed by nearly seven hours due to technical difficulties. According to Air India, the flight will now take off at 1:00 pm, and passengers have been provided with refreshments. This comes a day after a major technical snag at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport caused over 800 flight delays and 20 cancellations. The issue was attributed to a failure of the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), which led to a disruption in the automatic transmission of flight plan data to air traffic controllers. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) reported a 'technical issue' with the AMSS, but the cause and nature of the problem remain unclear. The glitch left passengers stranded at the airport, with many expressing frustration over the high cost of airport food and the repeated malfunctions at the facility. Delhi's IGI airport, one of India's busiest, manages over 1,500 flight movements daily. The technical issue was finally resolved late evening, but the incident has raised concerns about the functioning of India's major airports and the need for improved infrastructure and management.
