In the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections, the Muzaffarpur constituency has seen a significant lead taken by Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Ranjan Kumar. According to the Election Commission data, Kumar is currently ahead by a margin of 9,900 votes, while Jan Suraaj Party's Dr Amit Kumar Das trails behind. Dr A K Das, a well-established medical practitioner in Muzaffarpur, made his electoral debut in the Bihar Assembly polls. Born on August 18, 1976, Das holds an MBBS and M.D. degree from Patna Medical College and specializes in diabetology. He has been involved in various social awareness programs and has treated several prominent political figures in Bihar, including former minister Suresh Sharma. With zero criminal cases against him, Das boasts a total asset worth ₹14.3 crore, including movable assets of ₹5.5 crore and immovable assets of ₹8.8 crore. His liabilities amount to ₹63.4 lakh. Das's clean record and reputation as a respected doctor in the city have led Jan Suraaj to bank on him for a win in the Assembly constituency. However, BJP's Ranjan Kumar is giving him a tough competition, with no criminal cases against him and a total asset worth ₹13,65,50027. The counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025, following the two-phase voting on November 6 and November 11, 2025. The Muzaffarpur constituency, which voted in the first phase, is one of the key battlegrounds in the Bihar Assembly elections. In the 2020 Assembly elections, Indian National Congress's Bijendra Chaudhary won the seat by a margin of 6,326 votes, defeating BJP's Suresh Kumar Sharma. However, this time, the competition has become even more intense with Dr A K Das and Ranjan Kumar vying for the top spot.
