Dimapur, Nagaland - Thousands of Naga people gathered at the Agri Expo in Chumoukedima on Tuesday, urging the Indian government and Naga negotiators to deliver a long-overdue solution to the Naga political issue. The Naga Common Platform (NCP), a coalition of civil society organizations, passed three unanimous resolutions at the event, calling for a comprehensive and early settlement based on the Framework Agreement and the Agreed Position. The NCP expressed full support for the landmark agreements signed between India, the NSCN, and the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups in 2015 and 2017. Despite concerns from some tribal apex bodies about fragmentation within the Naga movement, the NCP emphasized the need for a unified, transparent, and inclusive platform to resolve the issue. Speakers at the event highlighted the urgent need for an end to the prolonged political stalemate, which has burdened the people for over a century and 28 years of negotiation. Organizing committee member K K Sema appealed to the NSCN to be more transparent in their negotiations, arguing that the Naga public's future cannot be decided in secrecy. The NCP's call for an early and honourable solution has sparked renewed hope for lasting peace in Naga areas. As the Naga people continue to wait for a resolution, the Indian government and Naga negotiators face growing pressure to deliver on their commitments and bring the talks to a successful conclusion.
