The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is on the cusp of a historic victory in Bihar, with the party expected to clinch all 10 Rajya Sabha seats in the state's upcoming biennial elections. This triumph will significantly boost the NDA's strength in the Upper House, potentially adding three seats to their current tally of 133. The ruling party's dominance is largely due to the RJD's hold on three of the 10 seats, which will become vacant by the end of the Narendra Modi government's term in May 2029. Among the five seats set to expire next year, the NDA's prospects look particularly promising, as they are likely to secure four seats through first-preference votes. The remaining seat can be won through second-preference votes, given the RJD-led opposition's inability to muster the required 42 MLAs. In 2028, another five seats will face biennial polls, with the NDA poised to maintain their grip on power. The party's ability to secure these seats will be a significant milestone in their bid to strengthen their presence in the Rajya Sabha.
