The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in the Delhi blast case, arresting Jasir Bilal Wani, a key suspect and active co-conspirator of the suicide bomber Umar un Nabi. Wani, who was arrested in Srinagar, allegedly provided technical support for terror attacks, including modifying drones and attempting to make rockets. According to the NIA, Wani was brainwashed by Umar for several months to become a suicide bomber, but he backed out in April this year due to economic reasons and his belief that suicide is forbidden in Islam. The agency believes Wani's interrogation will help unravel the conspiracy behind the November 10 blast that claimed 13 lives. The NIA is exploring various angles to understand the terror network linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which spans across Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Officials believe Umar, a 28-year-old doctor, was planning a powerful vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) blast around the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary on December 6. Wani's arrest is part of a larger investigation that has already led to the arrest of several key suspects, including Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie, who was involved in accumulating vast quantities of chemicals, including 360 kg of ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and sulphur. The agency is conducting searches across states to identify every person involved in the terror attack. The Delhi blast has exposed an intricate interstate terror network, with JeM posters appearing on walls in Srinagar and leading to the arrest of several locals with prior stone-pelting cases. The NIA's efforts to unravel the conspiracy are ongoing, and the agency is working to prevent future terror attacks.
