A 20-year-old MBBS student from Haryana, Janisur Alam alias Nisar Alam, is facing terror charges after being arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in West Bengal's Uttar Dinajpur district. Alam, a resident of Ludhiana with ancestral roots in Konal village near Dalkhola, was picked up from Surjapur Bazar on Friday morning while returning from his ancestral home. He had attended a wedding ceremony at his family's ancestral home and was on his way back when NIA sleuths intercepted him. According to sources, the NIA had been tracking Alam's movements using mobile-tower location data and suspected him to be involved in activities related to the recent Delhi blast case. However, the agency has yet to reveal any specific details about Alam's alleged involvement. During questioning, Alam allegedly attempted to flee, leading to his detention. His family and relatives have denied any involvement in terror activities, describing him as a quiet and studious individual. The NIA is currently investigating Alam's links to the Delhi blast case, which killed 13 people and injured several others near the Red Fort. The agency has also raided the residence of migrant worker Moinul Hasan in Murshidabad district, who is believed to have maintained long-term contact with a Bangladeshi national. The NIA is examining whether Hasan had any links to extremist organisations or was in touch with Alam. Alam is currently being taken to Siliguri for further questioning and investigation.
