Bihar's new government is taking shape as Janata Dal (United) leader confirms plans for a grand oath-taking ceremony for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, marking his record 10th term. The event will mirror the scale of the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) landslide victory in the recent elections. According to JD(U) leaders, the Election Commission will submit the list of newly-elected assembly members to the governor by Sunday evening, paving the way for the formation of the new government. The process is expected to begin with Nitish Kumar tendering his resignation, followed by the governor's approval of his new term. The distribution of ministries among NDA partners has been largely decided, with a mix of old and new faces expected to join the Cabinet. The Speaker's post will be given to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as per tradition. Union ministers held consultations in Delhi to finalize the government's shape, with JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha assuring that everything will be settled within the next few days. 'The big mandate comes with big responsibility, and we are committed to accelerating Bihar's development journey,' he said. The NDA won 202 of the 243 seats in the recent elections, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal securing its lowest-ever tally of 25. The Bihar assembly's term ends on November 22, and the election process must be completed before then. Legislature party meetings of all NDA allies are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, followed by a joint meeting to elect their leader. Nitish Kumar will then stake his claim with a joint letter of support, marking the beginning of his new term as Chief Minister.
