Bihar is gearing up for a historic moment on November 20 as Nitish Kumar prepares to take oath as the chief minister for the 10th time. The BJP-JD(U) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a landslide victory in the recent assembly elections, winning 202 out of 243 seats. As part of the oath-taking ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from NDA-ruled states will be in attendance. Nitish Kumar is expected to be elected as the legislature party leader on November 19, a day before the oath ceremony at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The BJP has appointed Keshav Prasad Maurya as the central observer for the election of the party's legislative group, while Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti have been appointed as central co-observers. In preparation for the new government, the NDA is planning to allocate one ministerial post for every six MLAs, ensuring balanced representation within the alliance. The coalition government will consist of members from the BJP, JD(U), Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) or HAM(S). The allocation of ministerial posts is expected to be as follows: one post for RLM and HAM(S) each, three for the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) or LJP(RV), and the remaining 30-31 slots will be divided between the BJP and JD(U). Adjustments are possible, and changes to the two deputy chief minister posts may also occur. In a separate development, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has been elected as the leader of the opposition (LOP) for the Bihar legislative assembly for the second time, despite suffering a massive defeat to the NDA in the recent elections. The NDA secured a landslide victory, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party after winning 89 seats, while the JD(U) won 85 seats and LJP(RV) won 19 seats. The Mahagathbandhan alliance, led by the RJD, secured only 25 seats, reducing its seat tally and losing the title of the single largest party in the assembly. The Congress won 6 seats, CPI(ML)(L) won 2 seats, and CPI(M) won 1 seat in the alliance.
