Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has come out in praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speech, delivered at the sixth Ramnath Goenka Lecture. Despite battling a cold and cough, Tharoor was in attendance and took to social media to share his thoughts on the PM's address. In a detailed post on X, Tharoor highlighted the key points of the speech, including PM Modi's call to break free from the 'slave mentality' imposed by Thomas Macaulay. The PM appealed for a 10-year national mission to restore pride in India's heritage, languages, and knowledge systems. Tharoor praised the speech, noting that PM Modi emphasized India's emergence as a model for the world and highlighted the country's economic resilience. He also appreciated the PM's emphasis on addressing the problems of the people, saying that he was 'in emotional mode' rather than 'election mode.' The speech came just days after the ruling NDA registered a landslide victory in the Bihar elections. Shashi Tharoor's Congress party, however, suffered a significant loss, winning only six out of 61 seats it contested. The Congress MP has faced criticism from within his own party for his praise of PM Modi, but Tharoor remains undeterred. He has previously spoken highly of the PM's energy and dynamism, and has called for greater backing for his government.
