Rohini Acharya, the daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has announced her decision to quit politics and disown her family. In a shocking post on X, Acharya attributed her decision to Sanjay Yadav, a Rajya Sabha MP, and Rameez Alam, a close aide of her brother Tejashwi Yadav. According to Acharya, she was 'thrown out' of the party and her family by these individuals. She alleged that she was 'insulted, abused, and even hit with a chappal (slipper)' by them. Acharya's decision comes after the RJD's defeat in the Bihar assembly polls. The 46-year-old homemaker-turned-politician had earlier clashed with Sanjay Yadav during the run-up to the state assembly polls. The incident, coupled with the party's subsequent debacle, may be linked to Acharya's decision to quit politics. This is not the first time the RJD has faced internal conflicts. Earlier, Lalu Yadav's elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, was expelled from the party and the family over a personal controversy. Sanjay Yadav, a close aide of Tejashwi Yadav, is considered one of the key players in the RJD's leadership. Rameez Alam, an old friend of Tejashwi, comes from a political family in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. The RJD has yet to respond to Acharya's allegations. As the party grapples with internal conflicts, it remains to be seen how this development will affect its future prospects.
