Saudi Bus Crash Claims 45 Indian Lives: Hyderabad Residents Among the Dead

A devastating bus crash in Saudi Arabia has left 45 people dead, including at least 16 residents of Hyderabad, India. The accident occurred early Monday morning near Madinah when a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims collided with a diesel tanker. The sole survivor, identified as Mohammad Abdul Suyaib, is currently receiving treatment at the Saudi German Hospital. The group of 54 pilgrims had departed from Hyderabad on November 9 and were returning to Madinah after completing their Umrah prayers in Mecca. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar revealed that the bus was carrying 46 passengers, with four members traveling separately by car and four others staying back in Mecca. The Telangana government has established contact with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and has set up a control room to assist families and consolidate information. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed deep shock over the incident and assured that the Indian Embassy and Consulate are extending full support to those affected. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also offered condolences to the bereaved families, with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi calling for immediate action from the Centre to bring the bodies back to India and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured. The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief in Hyderabad, with the Telangana government working to coordinate with the Saudi authorities to provide relief measures to the affected families.
