A 43-year-old doctor from Kanpur, Shaheen Shahid, has found herself at the center of a major terror investigation in Faridabad, India. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Shaheen, along with several others, in connection with a terror module that may have links to the Red Fort car blast that killed at least 10 people on Monday. Shaheen, who was once a diligent doctor, had a promising career ahead of her. Born and raised in Lucknow, she completed her MBBS from Prayagraj and joined GSVM Medical College in Kanpur as a lecturer in 2006. However, her career took a turn for the worse after she was transferred to Kannauj in 2009. She returned to Kanpur but soon started missing work and was eventually dismissed in 2021 for prolonged absence. Shaheen's personal life also took a hit, with her marriage to a Maharashtra resident ending in divorce in 2015. She then moved to Faridabad and started living a reclusive life, eventually forming a relationship with Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaia, another key accused in the terror module. Muzammil was also a close aide of Umar un-Nabi, the driver of the car that exploded near Red Fort. The investigation has revealed that Shaheen was part of Jaish-e-Mohammad's (JeM) women recruitment wing in India and was in touch with her handler in Pakistan. She was allegedly instructed to recruit more women for terror activities. Shaheen's association with Al Falah University in Faridabad has also come under scrutiny, with the university distancing itself from allegations linking it to the terror module. The terror module, which has links to JeM and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, has been busted in Faridabad as part of a joint operation by the ATS and other agencies. The investigation is ongoing, and Shaheen's role in the terror module is being probed further.
