Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated four new Vande Bharat Express trains from his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi, marking a significant leap forward in India's railway connectivity. The new trains, operating on four key routes - Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, Firozpur-Delhi, and Ernakulam-Bengaluru - promise to slash travel times between major stations and boost regional mobility, tourism, and economic activity. The Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat is the first inter-state semi-high-speed premium train service linking Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, offering a faster and more efficient travel experience. With a total distance of 583 km, the train will cover the journey in just 8 hours and 40 minutes, reducing travel time by over 2 hours. The new Vande Bharat trains boast impressive features, including: * Banaras-Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express: The fastest train on the Varanasi-Khajuraho route, covering 443 km in 7 hours and 40 minutes. * Lucknow-Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express: Reduces travel time by almost an hour, covering 7 hours and 45 minutes. * Firozpur-Delhi Vande Bharat Express: The fastest train on this route, covering 6 hours and 40 minutes and connecting Delhi to major Punjab cities. * Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat Express: The first inter-state semi-high-speed premium train service, cutting travel time by over 2 hours. Speaking at the launch, PM Modi emphasized the importance of infrastructure in India's economic growth, stating that trains like Vande Bharat are laying the foundation for a new generation of Indian Railways. He highlighted the significance of these trains in connecting sacred cities and heritage sites through a modern rail network that embodies both faith and progress.
