In a veiled attack on foreign historians, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused them of deliberately omitting India's most glorious moments from recorded history. Speaking at the 10-day Uttarakhand Mahotsav-2025 in Lucknow, Adityanath praised folk arts and music as the true custodians of India's history, saying they have preserved the nation's rich cultural heritage. The chief minister emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting folk traditions, cultures, and cuisines, urging people to take pride in their motherland and its heritage. He highlighted the unique blend of Awadhi and Uttarakhandi cultures at the festival, which celebrates the state's rich history and contributions to the nation. Adityanath also paid tribute to Uttarakhand's notable leaders, including Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, Narayan Datt Tiwari, and Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, as well as the state's proud tradition of producing brave soldiers, including the late General Bipin Rawat and current CDS General Anil Chauhan. The event was attended by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who also addressed the gathering. The Uttarakhand Mahotsav serves as a vital platform for keeping India's folk traditions and culture vibrant, ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots and proud of their heritage.
