India Takes 1-0 Lead in Five-Match T20I Series with Dominant Seven-Wicket Victory Over England in Kolkata Opener
India dominated England in the first T20 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, winning by seven wickets. England, batting first, were bowled out for 132 runs, with Captain Jos Buttler top-scoring with 68 runs off 44 balls.
India's bowling attack was on point, with Varun Chakravarthy taking three wickets, while Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel each claimed two wickets. Arshdeep Singh also became India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal's tally.
Chasing a target of 133 runs, India reached the target in just 12.5 overs, thanks to Abhishek Sharma's blistering 79 runs off 34 balls. Sanju Samson contributed 26 runs, while Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 19 to guide India to victory.
The second match of the series is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, with India currently leading the five-match series 1-0.
