Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Sri Lanka, Weather Warnings Issued

Sri Lanka is experiencing severe rain showers, causing havoc in several provinces, including Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central. The Meteorology Department forecasts that rainy conditions will persist for the next 24 hours, with heavy showers reaching up to 100 mm expected in Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, and Polonnaruwa districts.

Cloudy Skies are Expected across most parts of the island.Also Thundershowers are Anticipated in multiple regions, including Hambantota district. Fairly strong winds ranging between 30-40 kmph predicted in parts of Northern, Eastern, and North-Western provinces.

For the Precautions, the Sri Lanka government has declared all government schools in North Central Province and Eastern Province to shut.Early landslide warnings at yellow and amber stages have been sounded in multiple areas on the island.
