Tripura Tribal Journalists Receive Warm Reception from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made history by holding a meeting for the first time with tribal journalists in Tripura.Organized by the Khumulwng Press Club, Kokborok Media Forum the event brought together tribal journalists, editors-in-chief, and social media influencers to discuss professional challenges and government schemes.
The meeting began with a warm welcome for the Chief Minister, who received traditional tribal attire and a bouquet of flowers from Khumulwng Press Club's President Anshumoy Debbarma and Secretary Ranjit Debbarma. Female tribal journalists and other media representatives also joined in, exchanging Diwali greetings with the Chief Minister.
Six senior tribal journalists participated in the discussion, with Ranjit Debbarma requesting the Chief Minister to review the advisory committee's composition and address the infrastructure needs. This historic meeting marked a significant step towards fostering dialogue and understanding between the government and tribal media representatives.
Ranjit Debbarma, a tribal journalist, praised the current government in Tripura for promoting press freedom and security, allowing journalists to work freely and inspiring new tribal journalists to join the profession. He noted that compared to the previous government, the current administration has broadened freedom for tribal communities, boosting confidence among young journalists.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha echoed this sentiment, stating that peace, freedom, and journalist safety have returned to the state since the government changed. He expressed delight at seeing a large number of tribal journalists and emphasized the government's goal of building "Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura", which relies on tribal journalists' support.
This historic meeting marks a significant step towards understanding between the government and tribal media representatives.
